RotS challenge: Break

Ahm, is this allowed? Crossposting from [info]swficlets? Eh, whatever - if not I'll delete one or the other.

Title: Break
Characters: Obi-Wan & Anakin
Rating: PG-13, I suppose - no higher or lower than RotS is rated
Word Count: 100
Summary: An interlude, and a touch more closure.
Notes: first fic here, first Star Wars fic since something I wrote when I was about 11 that NO ONE will ever see d-: - RotS has reignited my SW-love. Enjoy.


The platform shifted beneath their feet, sideways and down, lava poured over, and in the mad scramble for their lives, ducking crouched in momentary shelter on opposite sides of the pylon, Annie forgot for a moment and said "Master, are you all right?"

Obi-Wan tasted sweat. "Fine. Anakin, do you see a way back to the ship -"

A drop of magma sizzled on Obi-Wan's lightsaber, and his heart shattered.

"Oh, Anakin ..."

Something gave. The man who swung viciously round at him was only Lord Vader.

The man who fought back with skill and cunning, and won - was only Old Ben.

So anything at all from the prequels is acceptable, right? The only stories not welcome would be something completely dependent on the OT or EU? Just want to make sure I understand, so I don't trip up in the future. (:

The content rules here have always been pretty relaxed - we've had EU charas, IIRC. The mods are [info]lea_ndra and [info]raina_at - they would be the best ones to ask about it. :)

Simply wonderful. I love "Annie forgot for a moment". Indeed, they were playing "parts" in a tragedy much larger than themselves. Nice work. I look forward to seeing more from you!

Thank you! I was holding my breath during the movie, for one last glimpse of Anakin somewhere inside, and it broke my heart when it didn't come. So I had to write that. That's very insightful, about them "playing parts" - I'll have to think on that a bit more. (: And thanks for the welcome!

I think we glimpsed him, as he emerged in the suit as Vader. The first thing he asked about was Padme. That was Anakin. But then Palpatine told him that he had killed her and Ani was gone. :(

And we're always glad to have fresh voices around here! Keeps our beloved fandom strong. :)

Oh, me too. But in the original trilogy Obi-Wan seems to have very much given up on him, so I suppose he had to at the end of this one. It still sucks!

That's a lot of insight for an eleven year old. How many years ago did you write that? There is an age minimum for this community considering content of this community.

It's the first SW fic she's written since another thing she wrote when she was eleven - this is more recent.

Exactly. What I wrote at 11 or so was, um, the first couple chapters of an epic novel where Han gets Jedi powers, and yeah, that is NEVER EVER going to see the light of day. *grin* This drabble I wrote last night, and I'm 23 atm, so no worries.

That's a lot of insight for an eleven year old.

You just about killed me with this ficlet, in a good way. *sad smile* Was trying to tell the boi about it and got all teary. Again. Looking forward to more storytelling from you. This fic might inspire me in the meantime, as I keep seeing so many points in RotS where he could have turned back, yet didn't.
